Surf & Sand Resort - Splashes Bar

Surf & Sand Resort has a full restaurant, but I always just sit in the bar for the amazing view, drinks and (limited but really good) menu of appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches. Unlike The Deck and The Rooftop Lounge in Laguna Beach, this place is indoors - but the view is by no means compromised. The bar sits right on top of the Pacific Ocean and when the windows are open you can hear the waves crashing. For food, I always get the brussel sprouts here. They are super crispy and served on top of an orange whipped mascarpone with puffed grains, pickled goji berries, lemongrass and a hababero vinaigrette (that is not overwhelmingly spicy). If I am here for lunch or dinner, I go for the blackened swordfish sandwich with lettuce, pesto, heirloom tomato, cucumber and tomatillo salsa, pickled onions and avocado on a rosemary ciabatta bun. I don’t often order sandwiches when out, but this one is a staple for me. I also love to share the vegetable flatbread with the table. It has caramelized romanesco, balsamic spring onions, asparagus, garlic confit cream, truffle goat cheese and golden raisins. Honestly though, everything on this bar menu is good. I have never had anything I didn’t like here.
