Low Fat Spiced Cinnamon Apple Bread

My low-fat banana bread recipe is one of my favorite recipes I have ever created. I love that so many of you made it after I shared it the first time, and wanted to give it a fall-inspired twist. Cue this low-fat spice cinnamon apple bread.

It’s moist, low in sugar and did I mention - low in fat? I figured there are enough “fat bomb” recipes out there and post workout - you don’t want a meal high in fat, so this bread is actually a great post workout option paired with a protein shake.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 egg

  • ⅓ cup egg whites

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 cup oat flour

  • ½ cup Bob’s Red Mill 1:1 gluten free baking flour

  • 1 ¼ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • pinch of sea salt

  • 1 apple, finely chopped

  • A shizzz ton of cinnamon (my go-to is Savory Spice Shop’s ground Saigon cinnamon)

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Mix wet ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl and then add to the bowl of wet ingredients. Fold in half of the chopped apple. Pour everything into a greased bread loaf tin. Top with the rest of the chopped apple and more cinnamon. Bake at 350 F for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. It’s best enjoyed the next day after it’s been in the fridge for 24 hours because this bread is very dense and almost cake-like.
